The Best Low-Cost Online Writing Course for New Freelance Writers

In this post, I’ll go over what I think is the BEST freelance writing course for new freelance writers looking to make their first $1,000 and start a freelance career.

Important: **This isn’t a blind review, I paid my own money for this course in 2019, I’m still involved in the community, and I’ve taken other courses. I STILL think this is the absolute best way for someone to get started fast, for the lowest price.

What you need to know (a.k.a the TL;DR version of this post)

Course Creator: Elna Cain created a course called Write Your Way to Your First 1K.

Elna’s credentials: She was a mom with young twins who didn’t know anything about the industry, created a successful freelance writing career from scratch, and now she writes for big name blogs.

How much does Write to1K cost? At the time of writing this, it’s just under $200. I’ve told Elna she should charge more, but she likes keeping costs down so more people can become freelancer writers.

What are the pros?

The course has everything you need to get your first client and keep getting clients.

>> It will help you find a writing niche, provide cold email pitch templates, and many other ways to find clients (because everyone is different!). Elna has put a lot of effort into listening to former students. Almost every question you have swirling around in your head is answered in the course.

>> Elna’s very involved in the Facebook group.

>> You can take the online classes at your own pace, and get lifetime access.

>> You’ll learn how to get good clients.

What are the cons? The only con I can think of is there isn’t much training about the writing part.

There is some training on putting together blog posts, but nothing about writing skills or things like sentence structure. It’s not something I’d expect from a course like this, but I was digging to find something to put in this section.

The only other con I can think of is certain programs (like some job boards) aren’t updated. The course is INCREDIBLY robust, and I doubt Elna uses job boards anymore, so it’s no surprise. She does, however, make a great effort to keep all the information updated.

This isn’t really a con, but this is not a copywriting course, it’s intended for content creators. You won’t learn how to put together case studies, sales pages, or conversion copywriting.

Should you take the Write to 1K online course or keep reading free information online? Elna is an incredibly generous content creator. You can get all the information in the course for free on her Youtube channel and on her blog.

However, it will take a long time to sift through everything to find what you need to build a successful freelance writing career (trust me, that’s what I did first).

If you want to get your first $1,000 FAST, the course is the #1 best way to become a successful freelance writer. The information is all organized and collected in a step-by-step, easy-to-follow way.

If you’re new to freelance writing, two things are certain.

OR

“How to find freelance writer clients?”

OR

“Best ways to build a freelance writing business.”

Thousands of answers pop up.

So you sift through them to see which post will help you get answers.

The huuuuuge problem is…

You’re often left when more questions than answers when you’re done.

So you search around for the best low-cost writing online writing course for new freelancers.

And you find content writing courses for $1,000, $2,000, or more.

Will I Make Money Even if I Have No Experience?

Write Your Way to Your First 1K was created for new freelance writers with ZERO experience.

The only thing you need is a strong grasp of the English language.

I’ve even seen non-native English speakers have success as long as they understand and can write in English.

Elna will walk you through, step-by-step, action-by-action, to get you from $0 to confidently pitching and promoting yourself.

If you follow the steps and do what she teaches, there is very little chance you won’t succeed.

Something that Elna offers in the course that I ADORE is if you get through the course and you’re still struggling, she will review your pitch and help you adjust it.

If I Buy the Course, Am I On My Own?

Absolutely not.

Between the writers in the private Facebook group and Elna herself, there is a TON of support.

Many new writers run into situations with their first pitches or clients and need help.

The cool thing is they post their problem in the group and Elna (and the other experienced freelance writers in the group) will help guide you through the problem.

I’ve seen posts like:

“My first client isn’t paying me, what do I do?”

“The client wants (insert weird thing that doesn’t make sense here), should I do it?”

“I applied to this job, and they are asking for (thing), do you think it’s a scam?”

You can ask any question, and tons of other writers will help you through it.

We all want you to have a successful career.

Elna is very active in the group as well.
